Malita M. Buls, 92, of Tripoli, died Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at the Tripoli Nursing & Rehab in Tripoli.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at St. John’s United Church of Christ-Siegel of rural Waverly with Rev. Eugene Walther officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour preceding services at the church Wednesday, November 12th. Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli is assisting the family.
Malita Margaret, daughter of Henry and Marie Biermann Korte, was born June 19, 1922, at Waterloo, Iowa. She graduated from Waverly High School and Wartburg College. Malita taught school in a one room schoolhouse for four years prior to her marriage to Arlon Buls, which took place at St. John’s U.C.C. - Siegel in 1945. Malita was a beloved teacher to the many students she had the privilege to teach. Malita became a farm wife as the couple farmed for many years in the Frederika area. She lived with her daughter in Colorado from 2008 to 2013, before returning to the area and entering Tripoli Nursing & Rehab in May of 2013.
Malita is survived by a daughter, Mary (Steve) Burns of Frederika; one son, Mark Buls of Arkansas; and two grandchildren, Mathhew Buls and Emily Baccile.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlon in 1978; one grandson, Peter Baccile; four sisters, Elda, Elsie, Laura, and Leone; one brother, Elmer and a brother, John who died in infancy.
